My Mother

My mother was my mother
But she was also my best friend.
We did so much together
As the days would quickly end.

I'd write the words of poetry
Then music she would write,
Mostly songs of Jesus
For He was our guiding light.

But, Jesus came for her one day
He took her "Safely Home."
She walks golden streets with daddy
And I feel so all alone.

I know she's up in Heaven,
She's waiting there for me,
And, someday I will join her
For all eternity.

When I join her up in Heaven,
The greatest joy known,
We'll sing those songs we've written
As we kneel before the throne.
