GRANDPA'S BIBLE

When my mother went to Heaven,
Many things she left to me.
One thing she treasured many years
Was a Bible which was read lovingly.

This treasured Book my mother had
Was Grandpa's daily friend.
He read and lived its teachings.
He was God's servent to the end.

The cover was torn and tattered
Showing it had seen many a better day.
The pages were yellowed with age, but,
When searching you'd still find your way.

In the margin were marks made in pencil
Where Grandpa would highlight a line.
But, when told that he needed a new one,
He'd smile and say "This one's just fine."

So, like mother, I'll treasure this Bible.
The reason is really quite clear.
It was read by my Grandpa and mother.
Grandpa's Bible I'll ever hold near.
